
John Daniel - Founder & CEO
John Daniel- Managing Partner and Founder- Prior to founding DEP, John served as a Managing Director and Senior Research Analyst with Simmons Energy, A Division of Piper Sandler, covering the U.S. onshore Oilfield Services sector for over twelve years. Prior to Simmons Energy, John worked for Key Energy Services for eight years, serving most recently as Vice President, Corporate Development. Responsibilities included investor relations and mergers & acquisitions. John also spent four years as an analyst with PNC Bank, serving in their corporate banking and leveraged finance groups. John graduated with a BS in Finance from Lehigh University and an MBA from Tulane University.

Sean Mitchell - Managing Partner
Sean Mitchell- Managing Partner- Sean is a Managing Partner at Daniel Energy Partners. Prior to joining Daniel Energy, Sean was a Managing Director/Head of Energy Institutional Sales at Simmons & Company International for almost two decades. Sean started his career in Institutional Sales with Simmons in 2001. Sean has worked with some of the largest public company energy CEO’s around the world doing NDR’s and helping with Investor Relations activities. Over the last 20 years Sean has built relationships with many of the largest institutional investors on Wall Street and has earned their trust as someone who understands the energy sector. Prior to Simmons, Sean was with Scotia Capital from 1996 to 2001 in the Energy Group. Sean worked with both the Investment Banking Group and Energy Loan Syndication Team at Scotia Capital where he was responsible for modeling and credit analysis on transactions in the upstream, downstream and midstream sectors of the energy business. Sean has a BBA in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.

Bill Austin - Managing Partner
Bill Austin- Managing Partner- Bill is a Managing Partner at Daniel Energy Partners Bill is a multi-disciplined senior finance and strategic business adviser with an exceptional depth of experience in the energy and manufacturing industries. Bill has led origination, evaluation, negotiation, and execution of acquisition and divestiture transactions in energy and manufacturing. He has deep industry experience leading treasury, risk management, M&A and credit functions. He’s been a leader of numerous transaction teams at Key Energy Services, Cameron International, Honeywell and Forum Energy Technologies. He is a tenacious problem-solver focused on utilizing technical, strategic, and commercial skills to collaborate with executive teams. Bill builds strong relationships with client leaders across the organization to ensure strategic initiatives are implemented effectively, reporting on challenges and recommending alternatives when necessary. Bill holds a BA in Economics from Colgate University and an MBA from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University.

Bob Stanton - Partner
Bob Stanton- Partner- Mr. Stanton comes to us after a 5 year stint working as a Wealth Advisor with J.P. Morgan Wealth Management and Merrill Lynch. Prior to his time as a financial advisor, Bob spent more than 15 years in institutional equity sales, Bob began his career in financial services at Simmons & Company International, delivering equity offerings, proprietary research, road shows and conferences to major institutional accounts on both the East and West Coasts. After 13 years, he moved to US Capital Advisors where he strengthened the company’s core business and grew their traditional client base. Bob later joined Kessler Energy, an institutional research start-up.
A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Bob holds a B.A. degree in Economics with a minor in Spanish. He also earned an M.B.A. degree with a concentration in Economics from the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University. Active in his community, Bob is a member of River Oaks Baptist Church and served for many years on the Board of Directors for River Oaks Baptist School. He and his wife, Katie have three sons and in his free time he enjoys coaching the boys’ sports teams and playing golf.

Geoff Jay - Partner
Geoff Jay is a partner at Daniel Energy Partners. Prior to joining Daniel Energy, Geoff was a buy-side energy analyst for more than 20 years, with roles at Janus Capital Management, Citadel, and Berger Funds. During this time, Geoff has covered nearly every subsector in energy and developed strong relationships with both company managements and institutional-investment peers. Geoff holds a BA in Philosophy from Northwestern University.

Bill Herbert - Energy Strategist
Bill Herbert – Energy Strategist. Prior to DEP, Bill served as Head of Research for Simmons & Company International and presided over the integration and management of Simmons research into Piper Sandler, following Piper’s acquisition of Simmons in 2016. Bill retired from Piper in July of last year. Bill has been a consistently top-ranked analyst, earning the top-ranking in oil service for Bloomberg, presiding over the top-ranked OFS team per Greenwich Associates, and earning an Honorable Mention on the Institutional Investor All-America Research Team. Bill holds a BA from the University of Texas and an MBA from the JL Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
